These spreads were highlights from a two part feature article in the Talbot Magazine Summer 2019 issue. They feature artwork and supporting design within the article layout. These were abstract representations of two topics; the rise of scientism and moral relativity.

This was a contract job with Price Philanthropies for their Aaron Price Fellows Program and consisted of redesigning the program logo. The objective was to enhance the old logo to a more visually relevant design. This included improving readability and clarity of the San Diego skyline with the interconnected individuals and rearranging the orientation between logo mark and text.

The wonderful world of Reddit led to the discovery of clever Harry Potter puns in relation to beer. Naturally, my affinity to both Harry Potter and beer led to the illustration of thematic beer coasters based on said puns and the seven novels; all served as fun Christmas gifts for friends! The design drew inspiration from the novel collection colors. Final product was produced on 4” diameter - 80pt. biodegradable cardboard pulp board.

Lead designer in partnership with the Biola advertising team to create digital ads as they launched multiple campaigns for different schools, programs, and Biola general. We promoted dozens of ads on various platforms like Adroll, Spotify, Pandora, Facebook and even billboards.

There were a number of coordinating print ads that were also featured in large publications such as The Gospel Coalition, The Hollywood Reporter and Relevant Magazine.

Aloha Ke Akua (God is Love) Surf Club is a non-profit Orange County based organization that provides surf lessons and community to foster youth. The founders desired to create a t-shirt design that combined their Christian based message with an essential dose of stoke. Jesus, understandably, would shred the gnar with love and grace if given the opportunity :) This design is being expanded to pins and stickers for club promotion and awareness.

Biola worked with a creative agency 160over90 to rebrand its undergraduate look and feel. My job within this phase was to transition our previous materials to the new brand, implementing the provided style-guide design elements to facilitate a comprehensive campaign in collaboration with 160over90.

I was tasked with re-designing Biola’s undergrad acceptance packet and my objective was to create a more interactive and engaging piece that coordinated with the same language and experience of the rebrand. Up to this point, the prospective student would have received a viewbook and other promotional materials leading to this final piece and I wanted the design to reflect that in the use of panels. There is a “reveal” element to each layer of the un-packaging process that includes vibrant campus imagery and enthusiastic wording, leaving the individual with the acceptance letter as the final takeaway.

These additional materials were part of the many rebranded items that fell under my responsibility: Undergrad Prospectus, study abroad booklet, a multi-story vinyl banner, the campus bus wrap, t-shirt designs, custom Moleskine pocket journals and tote bags.

Biola opened their new Alton and Lydia Lim Center for Science, Technology and Health in the spring of 2018. This was the formal invitation to the celebration and dedication ceremony for premiere building donors. The goal of the design was to create an invitation matching the theme of emerald greens and agate geodes used at the event dinner. The accordion fold and range of color led to the varying depth similarities that are represented in geode layers.

Logo concept for an employer service company managing payroll, Human Resources and employee benefits.

The typography consists of the number 10 combined with the word Sense. The circle, indicates the all encompassing approach of the services, but it's also part of the 10 which also intersects with the Sense. The diagonal line references the percent sign in a way. The purpose of the company isn’t just to provide human capital management solutions but also to donate 10% of all profits to societal causes that align with the company’s values and extending vision. 10Sense is a service company that engages people, partners and clients to be passionate about making a difference.

The colors of black and gold are timeless, bold, classic and also represent value. For the little icons, the "x" aka numerical 10 could be used as accents in the design as well as the 10s.

These set of location illustrations were designed as identifiers on printed materials to promote alumni mixer events hosted in each respective city across the USA.

The Biola magazine is an award winning magazine (produced 3xs a year) that has won CASE Gold awards for design and illustrations. My main contributions to the following editions were the infographics.

The Campaign for Biola was the largest university fundraising campaign to date, raising over $180 million for education advancement. The Biola Magazine Campaign Issue was one of many pieces produced during this phase. The assignment was to illustrate the progress and varying capacities of the campaign in infographic format across several spreads, engaging the reader through visuals than conveying that data solely through text.

Lead designer tasked with assembling university memorabilia and designing photo canvases to encapsulate the rich history of Biola within the context of a café that would be widely used by students. Architect, Gensler, provided the blueprint and layout of the area which the designs were based upon. The neon signs brought in that additional element which paid homage to iconic symbols of Biola and served as focal points along the wall.

Custom design chocolate bar packaging for the annual President’s Vision Summit. This was one item in a series of materials mailed to the attendees in lead up to the event. Since the event was held at the Montage Laguna Beach, the design direction was a reflection of that; more specifically the iconic pool patterns. The drop date for this item was Valentine’s Day, hence the decision of a chocolate gift. Rather than using the traditional reds and pinks associated with that particular day, the design emphasis was on the anticipated location which helped distinguish it from other materials an individual might be receiving on February 14.

Lead designer for the communication piece of Talbot School of Theology, Talbot Magazine. This is a bi-annual publication featuring relevant theological and current cultural topics, as well as informing readers on Talbot and alumni news. There have now been seven issues of the magazine produced.

These images were for a feature article about online learning that combined photography and illustration within the page layout design.

The client wanted an updated fresh look for their counseling center that communicated growth but also confidentiality. Circles often represent movement but also stability and wholeness. The circle of leaves is left open to mirror the ability to come and leave the safe place of BCC when comfortable. The green color inclusion is indicative of progress and growth, which reinforces the intentions of the counseling center.

The client also wanted to introduce a more corporate approach with this logo and this was achieved through changing the text to a modern clean typeface that coordinates with many other Biola materials.

The International Service Corps of Asia (ISC) is a not for profit, non-governmental, community development organization registered under the Philippines Security and Exchange Commission. They needed an official logo to help substantiate their efforts and legitimize their presence visually.

The logo symmetry helps reinforce the idea of balance and foundation, which is something that is integral to the core of ISC. There are two layers of three clusters (inner circle and outer circle) and the inner triad represents the three focal areas of the ISC projects which combine the mind, body, and soul, which then influence and implement the three phases of development (Empowering, Mobilizing, Community Transformation). Those would be represented by the outer circles.

The overlap of circles references interconnectedness and community, and their expansion indicates movement and growth.
 

Logo design for Radiant Health Nutritional Therapy, which is a nutrition consulting company that provides coaching and lifestyle recommendations for well-balanced body health. The logo uses a clean and organic treatment through it’s construction of the petals, which then coordinate with the vibrant healthy nature of the watercolors. The background lends itself to multiple hue ranges of blues, purples, and red colors to create a bright, fresh sensation that comes with dynamic new lifestyle changes. It was intended to market artistically to a feminine audience since that is the primary customer.

Hand drawn letters transferred into photoshop then brought in to inDesign for an article cover spread. This was intended to imitate a style of blackletter type treatment used during the time of the Reformation since the article was featuring that as it’s topic.

This first wall was a commemorative installation to Biola President William E. Blackstone in the recently built Blackstone Hall. Part of the process required condensing the breadth of his life and influence into a timeline of highlights reflecting on his impact. This was first publicly displayed and revealed at the opening ceremony of the hall.

This second set of walls are located in the new Biola Welcome Center. They featured different images of students and locations around campus that prospective students could view while waiting to meet with an admissions counselor. The frosted accent panels coordinated with the other frosted paneling used throughout the room.

Branding and t-shirt design for the The Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation (SCORR) 2020 conference. Their theme was the concept of knowing love in a way that casts out fear.

The vision of SCORR is to be an annual gathering where attendees experience: instruction that broadens their perspectives, dialogue that enhances critical thinking, and artistic expression that inspires creativity.

The committee expressed their desire for vibrants colors and a more abstract approach to the design as that has been very popular with with their audience. There were two t-shirt options produced as a result, utilizing vibrant neon color schemes on a dark grey shirt and on white. The finalized concept was then utilized for digital promotion such as Facebook events and the SCORR landing page.

Results: The event was hugely successful in terms of attendance and all the shirts being completely sold out.

These books are some examples of hand made designs that were created as gifts and for personal use. For the wedding book, the sheets of paper were pulled from recycled pulp. The journal uses french link stitching with genuine leather straps. Finally, the book box served as a container for 8 separate signatures of content related to trip destinations in Italy. The clasp and paper used are from an antique market in Arezzo, Italy.

Wedding invitation design utilizing illustration and digital watercolor treatments. It was a four panel accordion fold with letterpress text on Lettra paper. The same technique was carried out on the wedding programs, reception signage and favor labels.
